Gua sha involves repeated stroking of the skin that brings up “sha,” or redness, that is associated with the release of blocked blood vessels to improve circulation. The sha can remain for 5-7 days depending on the efficiency of your circulation and metabolism.

I most often use this technique to relieve colds, coughing, and breathing difficulties, although it can also be applied in other cases such as headaches, muscle stiffness, nausea, bloating and diarrhea.
